Here’s some common Foot and Ankle Ailments Galleria Podiatry treats:

Heel / Arch Pain (Plantar Fasciitis)

Inflammation of the thick, strong tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot connecting the heel bone to the toes.

Non-invasive treatment can include modified activity program, heat packs, appropriate footwear, dry needling, Strapping, Shockwave therapy, Strengthening & Stretching exercises and Orthotic devices.

    Flat Feet

A lowering or collapsing of the longitudinal arch in the foot.

Controlling excessive pronation with orthotics prevents the feet ‘rolling’ inwards during walking. We can also advise you on many other treatments options that can reduce your pain.

    Achilles Tendonitis

Inflammation, pain and / or tenderness of the Achilles tendon.

Through a number of effective treatment options we can help reduce the over-stretching and traction on the Achilles tendon, therefore alleviating your pain.

    Shin Splints

Common term for pain felt anywhere along the shinbones (tibia and fibula), from the knee to ankle.

To reduce the abnormal forces on the muscles along the shins treatment may include realigning the feet and legs (using orthotic shoe inserts) to improve the efficiency of lower limb biomechanics.

    Morton’s Neuroma

A neuroma is a thickening of the nerve that supplies the toes.

Galleria Podiatry will assess your foot for structural problems that may lead to Morton’s Neuroma. Pain of this type may benefit from dry needling, padding, strapping and/or orthotics.

Pain at the ball of the foot, under the metatarsals.

By controlling excessive pronation the foot is returned to a neutral position which prevents the shearing forces being placed on the joints in the ball of the foot. Also, by balancing weight distribution over the entire foot, orthotic devices can help reduce excess weight and friction on specific parts of the foot which is a common cause of pain.

Pain, tenderness of the sesamoid bones under the 1st toe joint and the ball of the foot

Management of sesamoiditis involves modified activity, ice or heatpacks and redistribution of pressure with either padding or orthotics (custom-made shoe inserts). Galleria Poditary can also provide you with information regarding appropriate footwear.

    Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome

Constriction of the posterior tibial nerve or one of its branches within the tarsal tunnel.

Galleria Podiatry can assist with non-surgical treatment including; dry needling, orthotic therapy, physical therapy modalities, padding & strapping, stretching/strengthening and exercise prescription.
