Expert Care for Ingrown Toenails at Galleria Podiatry
An ingrown toenail occurs when your toenail grows into the surrounding skin. It is a very painful condition and must be treated before things get serious. The most common approach is to remove the part of the nail bed with the extra growth along with the matrix underneath and administer a chemical at that location to prevent further growth of the nail there. Surgical treatment is only provided in extreme cases or if conservative methods fail. We also advise you on suitable footwear and correct nail-cutting techniques.
Modern and Non-invasive Toenail Fungus Therapy
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) for nail fungus using LED light is a modern, non-invasive treatment option. It’s known for being safe and 100% pain-free. In this therapy, a photosensitising agent is applied to the infected nails, which is then activated using a specific wavelength of light, typically from an LED source. This process generates reactive oxygen species that target and destroy the fungal cells without harming the surrounding healthy tissue. The appeal of this method lies in its safety profile and lack of discomfort during the treatment, making it a favourable alternative for those seeking a non-invasive solution for nail fungus.
Innovative Toenail Treatment
KeryFlex™ is an innovative treatment, exclusively available through podiatrists, designed to restore the appearance of toenails affected by various conditions such as fungal infections, deformities, psoriasis, or trauma. This system is entirely sterile, eliminating the risk of cross-infection, a concern often associated with some nail salons. KeryFlex™ treatments are durable, lasting up to 8 weeks, and incorporate anti-fungal properties to aid in the treatment of fungal infections. Importantly, it’s a 100% safe procedure with no known side effects, offering a cosmetic solution to those looking to improve the appearance of their toenails while addressing underlying health issues.
Non-surgical Bunion Treatment
Bunions are bony lumps that develop at the base joint of the big toe, resulting in a protruding shape towards the inside of the feet. They usually develop over several years and become painful during the later years. Sometimes, bunions may develop in the base joint of the little toe, too. Women are most susceptible to developing bunions, but it runs in families, too. Conservative treatments include correct footwear, padding, orthotics, pain management, and foot biomechanics correction. Surgery is done only in severe cases.
Custom-made Orthotics
Custom-made orthotics are specialised shoe inserts designed to support and improve the function of your feet. They are tailored to your foot shape and condition, ensuring a perfect fit and maximum effectiveness. These orthotics can help alleviate pain, correct foot abnormalities, and improve overall foot function. Unlike over-the-counter options, custom orthotics are made based on a precise impression of your feet, often taken by a podiatrist, ensuring they address your needs. They are beneficial for a wide range of foot-related issues, from flat feet and plantar fasciitis to more complex biomechanical problems.
