Do I Need A Referral?

No. A referral is not required to see a Podiatrist.

However, if you suffer with a long term, chronic illness such as Diabetes, Heart Disease or Rheumatoid Arthritis, you may be entitled to a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPCP) referral from your Doctor. It is at the doctors discretion to decide whether you are eligible for an EPCP. This referral entitles you to up to 5 visits to a Podiatrist per year.

If you are a Veteran’s Affairs Gold Card holder you will also require a referral from your Doctor in order to see a Podiatrist.

Can I Claim On My Private Health Insurance

Yes, you can claim a rebate from your Podiatrist provided you have ancillary cover for Podiatry. Each person’s rebate is slightly different depending on your health fund, and your level of cover.
We have HICAPS at the practice which enables you to claim your private health rebate directly, so you only pay the gap.
